Top 5 Longest Playoffs series win droughts

Making it to the playoffs alone isn’t enough. The goal always is to win the title, even if the team only has a small chance to do so. But, to be able to reach that goal, teams first have to win all series to even get to the finals. These teams have the longest playoff series win droughts of all teams.

5. New Orleans Pelicans – 10 seasons since win

The last time the New Orleans Pelicans won a series in the playoffs was in the 2008 first round against the Dallas Mavericks. They won that series 4-1, but the Pelicans lost in the second round. Since then, they qualified for the 2009, 2011 and 2015 playoffs, but they didn’t manage to win any series. Currently, the Pelicans are up 2-0 in the first round of the 2018 playoffs. Will they manage to end their losing streak?

4. Minnesota Timberwolves – 14 seasons

The Timberwolves won their last series in the 2004 Conference Semi-Finals against Sacramento. 2018 was the first time Minnesota reached the playoffs since 2004, meaning they finally have the chance to end their losing streak. Though they haven’t won a series in 14 years, the Timberwolves only have a losing streak of one series.

3. Sacramento Kings – 14 seasons

It has been 14 seasons since the Kings last won a series in the NBA playoffs. In 2004, they beat Dallas in the first round. Unfortunately, since then, the Kings lost their first round series in 2005 and 2006. They won’t get the chance to end the negative record this year, as they didn’t reach the playoffs.

2. Charlotte Hornets – 14 seasons

The Hornets won their last playoffs series in the 2002 first round against the Orlando Magic. Now, 16 years and 14 seasons later, they’ve had three more playoffs appearances, but they haven’t been able to win a series. They came close in 2016, when they lost the series 4-3 to the Heat.

1. Milwaukee Bucks – 17 seasons

The Milwaukee Bucks last won a playoffs series in 2001, when they beat Charlotte in the conference Semi-Finals. Since then, they’ve been in the 2003, 2004, 2006, 2010, 2013, 2015 and 2017 playoffs, but it’s still 17 years since their last playoffs series win. Furthermore, the Bucks have a 8 series losing streak. Maybe this year they’ll manage to end this negative streak, but currently, they’re 0-2 against the Boston Celtics.
